          Type of Position Regular: A position which is considered essential for the effective long-term operation of the university. Persons appointed to this position will receive the privileges and benefits associated with regular employment status.
          Duties:
          Recruiting for three positions:
          Perform direct patient care including diagnostic and therapeutic services with physician supervision. Within the Physician Assistant (PA)/ARNP Physician relationship, PA/ARNP exercises autonomy in medical decision-making and services provided. Assist in educating healthcare students, residents and fellows as they rotate through the respective departments and divisions. To assist in research endeavors as appropriate.

          Education Required:
          PA: Must comply with registration and licensure requirements as specified by the Iowa Board of Physician Assistant Examiners which include graduation from an accredited PA educational program and certification or eligibility for certification by the NCCPA.
          ARNP: Master's degree required, Master's in Nursing preferred. If Master's degree is in a related field, a BSN in Nursing is required.

          Experience Required:
          ARNP: Minimum of one year experience in an Emergency Department/Trauma Center or ICU. Demonstrated experience in area of clinical pracitce.
          PA: Minimum of one year experience in an Emergency Department/Trauma Center or ICU or successful completion of Emergency Medicine Physician Assistant Residency Program.
          Demonstrated ability to effectively manage critically ill patient population (of all ages) within a highly functioning unit/department.
          Proven capacity to function with a high degree of autonomy while actively collaborating within a multi-disciplinary team.
          Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.

          Certifications:
          Physician Assistant: current Iowa license to practice or eligible to be licensed by the State of Iowa to practice as a Physician Assistant.
          ARNP: current Iowa license to practice nursing in the state of Iowa and licensure as ARNP in Iowa or eligible for licensure. Certification as a CEN (Certified Emergency Nurse). If not, certification must be obtained within 6 months of hire.

          Desirable Qualifications:
          Previous pediatric emergency care experience is desired.
          3-5 years experience in an Emergency Department/Trauma center or ICU desired.
